Chevrolet has announced its line-up for SEMA 2013 with small cars being a big part brand’s showcase this year. Featured will be models of the Sonic subcompact, Spark electric minicar, Cruze diesel, Malibu midsize and Impala with a variety of cosmetic and performance upgrades. What catches our eye is the Cruze diesel compact.
With its 2.0-litre clean turbo-diesel engine, the Cruze Diesel delivers 350 Nm torque and has the capability to go from 0-60 in 8.6 seconds. The performance concept adds a ground effects package by 3dCarbon, as well as an updated front fascia and chin spoiler. Inside, the sound system is upgraded with Kicker Audio components and an ambient lighting package.
Since, we in India have been accustomed to the Chevy Cruze Diesel, it is but natural that we were drawn to it first. However, expecting the performance version here will be a bit of a stretch, but what we can do is take a clue from the concept and jazz up that Cruze in the garage.
According to the automaker, all the SEMA concepts feature enhancements designed, engineered, tested and backed by Chevrolet to be installed by a Chevrolet dealer, which, unlike aftermarket products, maintains the vehicle’s warranty.
“Chevrolet’s 2014 passenger car line-up is the strongest and most competitive in the brand’s history, offering customers a wide range of great-looking, great-driving and well-connected choices,” said Chris Perry, vice president, Chevrolet Marketing. “A five-year plan to completely remake Chevy’s car line-up is resonating with customers, who are finding value in the performance, quality and technologies that complement their lifestyles.”
