The Chevrolet Trax has been spotted testing in Argentina and is expected to go on sale in the South American country in the second half of 2013. The Trax is already on sale in Europe and will now be launched in the developing markets of Latin America as Tracker.
The compact SUV, Chevrolet Trax, is a direct competitor of the Ford EcoSport and is available with two petrol engine options – 1.4-litre turbocharged and 1.6-litre naturally aspirated; and a diesel mill mainly for the European market with 1.7-litre displacement. The length of the compact SUV is just over four metres (4248mm), but we are sure Chevrolet India will try and squeeze it to sub-four meter when they decide to launch it here.
With the current specs the Trax will compete directly with the Mahindra XUV500 and the Renault Duster, but size cut will certainly give Chevy the advantage. GM will also try and localise the product for India and also export to few developing markets.
Chevrolet India has refused comment on Trax at the moment, but we are certain that the launch is not too far away. The compact SUV should be in India in the first quarter of 2014.
