Chevrolet India has slashed the price tag of their flagship SUV – the Trailblazer. The price cut makes the car affordable by Rs 3.19 lakh. Priced at Rs 28.09 lakh previously, after the price reduction, the SUV is now available for Rs 24.90 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).
The price cut comes at a strategic timing when the impending launch of the rival Toyota Fortuner and Ford reducing the cost of the Endeavour as well. And the Trailblazer itself received a facelift recently. Therefore, the price might have been reduced in an attempt to help Chevrolet clear stocks and make way for the facelifted model in India.
The Trailblazer was launched in October last year. It never was able to achieve a remarkable sale in India because it was a CBU, whereas its competitors are manufactured locally. It lacked the all-wheel-drive option and a proper manual transmission, which competent rivals like the Endeavour, Fortuner or even the Pajero Sport has. As a result, the American manufacturer only managed to sell 48 units in the last nine months.
Only available in a single trim - LTZ AT, the seven-seater Trailblazer is powered by a 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine which produces 197bhp at 3600rpm and 500Nm of peak torque from 2000rpm. The six-speed automatic sends power only to the rear wheels. With body-on-frame chassis, it has a ground clearance of 241mm and measures an imposing 4,878mm in length, 1,902mm wide and 1,838mm of height.
A facelifted version of the Trailblazer was unveiled at the Bangkok International Motor Show in March 2016 and hopefully, it makes it way to India by next year.
