Chevrolet will launch the Sail sedan in Mumbai tomorrow. The car (with the Enjoy MPV in tow) has been spotted testing extensively across the country in an attempt to ensure that it is able to cope and achieve a good level of success. It is the first launch for the American automaker in 2013. Its hatchback sibling the U-VA was launched a few months ago.
The Sail sedan is basically a boot-on-hatch version of the U-VA and this mean it will share many components like underpinnings interiors and one 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.3-litre diesel engine with the hatchback. The higher variants of the Sail will be offered with ABS, EBD and twin airbags in front.
It is currently one of the highest selling vehicles in the Chinese market and a major reason for its success is the generous amount of leg room in the back. This is expected to help it score brownie points with the Indian car buyers.
The Sail is also expected to get a top-end LTZ variant to reduce the gap that was formed between Cruze and Chevrolet’s other small vehicles when the Optra and the Aveo sedan were discontinued. Stay tuned to CarWale for all the details from the launch.
