General Motors is testing the upcoming Chevrolet Spin MPV in India for quite some time now. A test mule was recently sighted testing in Whitefield, Bangalore in a new camouflaged avatar revealing its interiors.
The seven-seater vehicle boasts of a dual-tone dashboard, multifunction steering wheel and fabric upholstery. The integrated audio system is expected to feature the latest-generation MyLink infotainment system. It provides smart phone connectivity, enabling hands-free calls, streaming audio and video with access to personal playlists. Chevrolet has tried to up the premium feel of the interior and also added chrome inserts on the door handles, light switches, air-conditioning unit and the gear lever. The 60:40 split ratio and tumble action for the second row of seats will be offered as standard. The top-of-the-line variant will get adjustable neck restraints and three-point seatbelts in the last row of seats.
As the Spin looks premium and gets additional features over the Chevrolet Enjoy. The Spin will be powered by the 1.3-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 74bhp of power at 4,000rpm and a maximum torque of 190Nm at 1,750rpm. This powertrain comes mated to a five-speed transmission that sends power to the front wheels.
Chevrolet has confirmed that they will launch the Spin for the Indian market in 2017. They will display this MPV at the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo. When launched, the Spin will compete with the Renault Lodgy, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Honda Mobilio in the fast growing multi-purpose vehicle segment.
