Last time around, we had caught the Chevrolet Sail spy shots. Once again, we have caught the sedan doing its test runs on the streets on Mumbai. The Sail sedan and hatch are due for a launch something in the latter half of the year. The Sail is the first GM car that is designed and developed completely in China. This has helped GM to bring down its development cost. The Sail gets the new Chevrolet family design cues like the bold and modern hood with a high crown and prominent strakes led by a large bowtie Chevrolet logo.
The company will soon replace the ageing Aveo with the new Sail NB, which will also spawn the Sail hatch. The NB of the Sail NB refers to its notchback design. The car is marginally larger than the current model and the looks and interiors are brand new, in tune with the global Chevy design. The dash, steering and even the upholstery are completely redone. Powering the Sail NB will be a 1.4-litre S-TEC III petrol engine, which is expected to offer around 100bhp. We can even expect a 1.3-litre diesel version of the Sail that will be powered by the multijet mill churning out 90bhp of power.
