A CNG variant of the Chevrolet Enjoy MPV has been spotted testing by the team at Motorbeam. The vehicle an LS variant of the Enjoy is sans camouflage and the only sign that it is running on alternate fuel is a CNG sticker on the top-left corner of the rear glass.
The CNG variant is expected to use the Enjoy’s 1.4-litre Smartech engine that produces 104PS and 131Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. However, with engine running on CNG we expect the output to drop by at least 10PS and 10Nm of torque. It is likely that the Enjoy will get a 60-litre CNG tank as that is the capacity of the one used by its chief rival the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.
One major question that is expected to arise is how Chevrolet will place the CNG tank without compromising on the boot space available and that will only become clear once more details emerge. We believe that Chevrolet is targeting the fleet market segment with this variant of the vehicle much like Maruti Suzuki has done with the Ertiga CNG and that means it is likely to be priced Rs 55, 000 to Rs 60, 000 more than the equivalent petrol variant.
