Chevrolet has once again showcased its all-American iconic sports car, the Corvette Stingray at the 2016 Auto Expo. The car on display is the seventh generation and was launched globally in 2012.
The Corvette brand name has been in existence for 60 years now. However, this is the first Corvette generation in nearly 40 years to don the legendary Stingray moniker.
The car is powered by a massive 6.2-litre supercharged V8 mill that produces 455bhp and 620Nm of torque. It has a 0-100kmph time of 3.8 seconds and top speed of over 280kmph!
This C7 corvette can be had with a seven-speed manual or an eight speed automatic. The model on display is the latter.
The exterior design is evolutionary with iconic elements like the teardrop shaped head lamps, flared wheel arches and the split tail lamps that the flank the rear edges.
The two-seater cabin is driver-oriented and loaded with features, racing technology and of course, large digital displays in the middle of the instrument cluster.
The car on display is the standard C7 Corvette but there also exists a convertible version as well as high performance model called C7 ZO6.
With Ford bringing the Mustang to RHD markets, it seems possible the Chevrolet might just consider the Corvette as part of its global line up and get it here later on.
