The upcoming new Chevrolet Beat was recently snapped testing on Indian roads again. This time, however, the car sported less camouflage and the spy shots reveal the tail lamps for the first time.
The rear is similar to the crossover-styled Beat Activ concept showcased at this year's Auto Expo. The tail lamp design is mellowed down to a conventional multi-reflector unit as against the LED ones that we saw at the biennial event. Otherwise, the tail gate design is very similar. The integrated spoiler is carried over, but the registration plate has now moved to the bumper. The new front is borrowed from the Beat Essentia sedan unveiled at the same event.
With the refreshed hatchback, there would be significant gains in the cabin of the upcoming Beat as well. The instrument cluster was an interesting aspect in the Beat, and we can expect the carmaker to equip the new car with an upmarket one. The top-end LTZ variant might feature a touch screen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity options. The other features like height-adjustable driver seat, remote keyless entry, foldable key etc. are expected to be carried over. Likewise, the safety features including front dual airbags, ABS and EBD will also be offered.
The 2017 Beat is expected to retain the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.0-litre diesel engines from the current car. The former produces 79bhp of power and 108Nm of torque, while the latter churns out 57bhp of max power and 150Nm of peak torque. Both the units come mated to five-speed manual gearboxes.
Chevrolet is expected to launch the facelifted Beat in early 2017. This is a part of their two-year launch plan of introducing five new models including the Essentia, Beat Activ, Trailblazer and the next-gen Cruze.
