Chevrolet is expected to launch a compact sedan based on the Beat hatchback in 2017. It will be launched alongside the next gen hatchback and will be the American automaker’s second entry into a heavy volumes segment.
Chevrolet had earlier revealed that it would not be bringing the next generation Beat/Spark to the Indian market for cost reasons. Instead there will an India-specific model which be called the next generation Beat. It is expected to make use of the same platform and underpinnings but will get a new design.
The compact sedan will be derived from this vehicle and may follow the standard formula of sharing elements (with the hatch) that is present in the compact sedan segment. We have details of these two vehicles apart from the fact that they will make use of the 1.2-litre petrol engine and the 1.0-litre diesel mill.
When launched, this compact sedan will compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and the Ford Figo Aspire.
