Chevrolet will launch the special Manchester United themed editions of the Beat and the Sail U-VA on July 7. Chevrolet has introduced both the hatchbacks in the colours of the Manchester United Football team as the company is the official sponsor of the club.
Both the cars have been painted in a striking red colour. The special editions adorn the club's logo on the bonnet, side profiles and also inside the cabin. The side profile is dominated by the stylish body decals and the front grille gets a chrome lining and other features that can be seen on the car are body colored ORVMs, roof rails, set of alloy wheels, red and black colored leather seat covers, leather wrapped steering wheel, 2-DIN music system with four speakers and Bluetooth connectivity, illuminated LED scuff plates and reverse parking sensors.
There are no changes to the mechanical bits and the cars remain to be powered by the same set of engines. The Chevrolet Beat is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol/LPG engine that produces 79bhp of power and 108Nm of torque. The diesel variant is powered by the 936cc diesel engine that produces 57bhp and 150Nm of torque.
The petrol Chevy Sail U-VA gets the same petrol engine but has a power output of 86bhp and 113Nm of torque. The diesel model is powered by a 1.3-litre Fiat Multijet engine that churns out 77bhp of power and 205Nm of torque. In all the models power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual transmission.
The special editions of the cars were first showcased at the Auto Expo in February this year. Now, when the jersey of Manchester United for the EPL 2014 will be officially revealed on July 7, Chevrolet will also launch these models for the Indian market. Football fans are already in the football fever with the FIFA World Cup entering into its second stage. The carmaker seems to want to cash in the opportunity when the fans are excited.
The cars are expected to reach the dealerships soon after the launch on Monday. We expect the Manchester United Edition cars to be priced approximately Rs 75,000 over the LS variant in both petrol and diesel models.
