Chery International, a popular Chinese car manufacturer, is planning to join hands with Tata Motors for its India debut. The China-based car manufacturer has a 50 percent partnership with Tata Motors owned Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) that manufactures the premium range of vehicles at the assembly plant in Changshu since 2014.
The company’s collaboration with Tata Motors will help the brand understand and develop products for the Indian market. In the international market, Chery International product portfolio includes the QQ hatchback, Arrizo sedans and the Fulwin2 F. Moreover, the company will be launching an all-new SUV, the Exceed TX for the international market. Speaking to media, Yin Tongyao, Chairman, Chery International said, “India is a great country with a good heritage. We have a partnership with Tata Group. We may explore a tie-up to enter India.”
For a while now Chinese car manufacturers have been planning to mark their presence in India. Reports claim that apart from Chery International’s India debut plans, Shanghai Automotive and Beiqi Foton too have concrete plans for India. As for Changan and Great Wall, they are in talks with the local authorities. More details on the future developments will be known in the days to come.
