The year 2010 saw over 50 new car launches and it only gives us an idea as to what the future has in store. The year 2011 will open new avenues as car manufacturers in India battle it out to give the Indian consumer the best of the best. Hatchbacks dominated the year 2010 and it will be safe to say that the segment will continue to grow this year as well. The coming year will see a host of launches which will span across the segments right from hatchbacks, sedans, luxury sedans SUV’s and the like. Car manufacturers are putting their time, effort and money into making environment friendly, fuel efficient, safe and the most important of all, affordable cars, this year.
Tata Motors will start the proceeding this year when they bring out the Indica Vista 90 hp petrol (read road test). The hatchback segment will also see Chevrolet bring out the Beat Diesel and the LPG. Toyota with the Liva will be another player to watch out for as the price tag of the car will be something of a game changer. The year will also see Honda coming out with the Brio and this again will intensify the competition in the segment. Another car to watch out for will be the all new Maruti Suzuki Swift as this renewed version of the car will be well received by the Indian crowd.
The sedans to come are not far behind either. The Maruti Suzuki Kizashi is already generating a fair share of interest amongst people. The Kizashi will be Maruti Suzuki’s first luxury sedan in India and hence the company is putting its best foot forward. Nissan too will look at grabbing the attention of the crowd with their sedan which has been launched as the Sunny in the China automotive market. Ford too will join the bandwagon with its Fiesta which was recently launched in Thailand and Hyundai too will bring out the all new Elantra. Apart from that we will also see the VW Jetta and the new entrant Renault coming out with its sedan the Fluence.
Renault will also get its fair share in the SUV segment as it will launch the Koleos and an MPV namely the Duster. We will also get to see the all new Tata Safari and Nissan too will be ready with the NV200 while there is also news that Chevrolet will be coming out with an MPV. There will of course be a few surprises in the bag this year and we await them with eager eyes. The year 2010 has been the best so far for the automotive sector and we sure hope that with all the cars lined up it will be a fantastic 2011!
