Domestic car sales in India have shown a hike of 14.76 per cent in the last month. Passenger car sales rose to 1,60,232 units in June in comparison to 1,39,624 units sold in the same month last year.
According to reports from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), vehicle sales across categories grew by 12.15 per cent. The sales numbers advanced from 14,07,875 units in June 2013 to 15,78,884 units. Though the passenger car sales saw an upsurge, the sales of commercial vehicles declined by 9.03 per cent with 51,119 units sold during the same period.
The Indian automobile industry was facing a continuous decline in sales since last year. Annual car sales had dropped for the first time in 11 years in 2013. The domestic car sales in India was expected to remain sluggish until the middle of 2014 and now we can see the times changing with Asia's second-fastest expanding market showing a slow but steady progress.
