Car manufacturers have had a good March with most posting record sales, thanks to buyers getting their purchases in before the new Union budget came into effect. One of the largest increases was by Toyota Kirloskar, which posted sales of 18,220 units in March thanks mostly to the Etios and Liva. This marks an 87 per cent increase in sales over the period last year. Tata Motors crossed the 1 lakh units mark, a jump of 20 per cent over last year. Mahindra and Mahindra also posted a 25 per cent increase in sales at 47,001 units, a monthly sales record for the company.
Honda Siel Cars India recorded a 300 per cent increase in sales, but that is largely due to the parts supply chain from Japan and Thailand finally resuming component supply at the required levels, and Honda clearing the backlog of orders for its models, particularly the Jazz and Brio.
