A camouflaged prototype of the next generation Suzuki Swift hatchback has been spotted in Europe doing the rounds. We have already seen the leaked digital renderings of the car and know that it will sport an evolutionary design. However, given the presence of the Baleno, it will become a more cost-effective offering as compared to the former.
We believe that this car is near production ready due to the mirrors (with integrated indicators) and large projector headlamps. A new generation for the Japanese automaker’s highly successful hatchback, it will now move to the Baleno’s platform and is expected to be lighter and consequently more efficient.
This car is expected to be offered with the 1.2-litre K-Series petrol motor as well as the 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine. The diesel is expected to be the 1.3-litre Multijet. We believe that the Swift Sport will get a turbocharged version of the 1.4-litre mill.
Given how pivotal India is in terms of contributing to the Swift’s overall numbers, we could expect the global unveil and launch to happen here next year.
