Two test mules of the 2016 Audi A4 sedan were snapped on test in Mumbai. The car was recently unveiled and features a host of cosmetic as well as mechanical changes. It has been spotted testing on the roads of Mumbai city with great frequency over the last few months indicating that we are likely to be one of the first few markets to get the new car.
The two test mules taking rounds were slightly camouflaged and sported temporary registration plates. Despite the disguised avatar, the vehicles show the changes the manufacturer has brought in with this latest iteration of the sedan. It gets restyled headlamps, a single-frame grille, chrome strip within the waistline, new alloy wheels, compact LED tail lamps and a sloping roofline.
The car still follows the design language and some styling elements of the existing A4 sedan. But the new car is based on the second-generation of the flexible MLB platform and looks sharper than the current A4 on sale.
The new Audi A4 will be available in a range of four-cylinder and six-cylinder engine options. The petrol line-up includes the 1.4-litre TFSI, 1.8-litre TFSI, 2.0-litre TFSI and the 3.0-litre TFSI, while on the diesel front there is the 1.6-litre TDI, 2.0-litre TDI and the 3.0-litre TDI. The company might offer AWD via Quattro as an option and introduce a new nine-speed automatic gearbox with the new car.
The upcoming version is the fifth generation of the Audi A4 that will be soon introduced to the Indian market. With the host of changes to the new car, the latest model of the A4 looks better than the current model and should attract more buyers in our country.
