Bugatti has posted a teaser picture on its Facebook page of a hangar door with light shining out from behind it. The picture also has a message asking its fans to stay tuned for a new development. The photo has raised speculation among the motoring press that the French hypercar maker is likely to unveil a high perform version of the Veyron Super Sport that has been in talks for a while, deemed as the Super Veyron.
The Bugatti super Veyron will be powered by a ‘more powerful than the SS’ W16 quad turbo 8.0 litre or a 9.6 litre mill producing 1622PS and equally large amount of torque. Bugatti has confirmed that there will extensive use of carbon fibre throughout the vehicle and this is expected to help it shed 249kgs dropping its weight to a rumoured 1600kgs.
The updates are expected to push the car to a surreal top speed of 463 kmph! Realistically though, this number maybe a whole lot lesser, but reports suggest that 0-100 time could come down to around 1.8 seconds, which is actually the Formula 1 car territory. We can also expect a refreshed front and rear end along with revised active aerodynamics.
The car like its astronomical performance figures is expected to cost 1.9 million GBP (Rs 16.48 crore) and is expected to be a limited edition. The Super Veyron is now very important to the French automaker in the light of the fact that it had been recently stripped of a Guinness World Record that it set with the Supersport in 2010. The record was taken away due to a technical infringement and it is likely that the move to unveil the car is to limit the damage.
We are as excited as any other petrol head to see what the magicians at Bugatti can put out of their French hats this time and will keep you updated on the details as they emerge.
