The Buddh International Circuit in Noida was open to only racing drivers and a priviledged few before - but now owners Jaypee Sports International Limited is launching 'Open Track Day', which is exactly that. For a fee you can drive your car around the track.
This is not an unusual thing; racetracks around the world (and India, too) have days which are open to the general public for a fee, and it is a logical way of revenue generation for the owners. Mercedes-Benz organises track days for its customers at the BIC, and Toyota and Caterham plan to hold racing events there as well.
Each of the track days will be held from 7am to 6pm. There will be a total of four sessions a day, three for cars and one for motorcycles. Each session will have a maximum of 30 participants. The fees are Rs 8500 for a single session and Rs 20,000 for all three sessions. Motorcyclists will have to shell out Rs 6000 for their sole session.
There will be six open track days a year, the first of which will be on April 22. The forms for registration will be available on the Jaypee Sports website next week.
