- BS-VI compliant Ertiga diesel might be launched in India after BS-VI norms come into effect
- The model is currently offered with a 1.5-litre BS-IV diesel engine
Maruti Suzuki is working on the BS-VI compliant versions of their diesel engines. New spy images shared on the web reveal a test-mule of the BS-VI emission compliant diesel powered Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The model is expected to be launched in India after the BS-VI norms come into effect in April next year.
The partly camouflaged test-mule of the BS-VI Maruti Suzuki Ertiga diesel features the DDiS badging on the front fender, hinting that the test-mule is indeed powered by a diesel engine. A document stuck on the rear windshield of the model indicates that the emission compliance of the unit is BS-VI.
Powertrain options on the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga currently include a BS-VI compliant 1.5-litre petrol engine and a BS-IV compliant 1.5-litre diesel engine. The former is capable of producing 105bhp and 138Nm of torque while the latter produces 94bhp and 225Nm of torque. The petrol mill is also offered with a CNG option. Transmission options for the petrol motor include a five-speed manual gearbox and an AMT unit while the diesel motor is offered exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission.
