British tuning firm Superchips has introduced an ECU remap for Ford’s three cylinder 1.0 Litre Ecoboost engine. This will increase its base output of 123bhp by another 16bhp and provide another 30 Nm of torque.
As per reports, with the remap in place the engine will now produce around 139bhp and torque of 226 Nm delivered at 2,650 rpm, which arrives at 500 rpm earlier than the stock engine, improving drivability. The report also confirms that the increase in the power and torque will not affect the mileage of the engine.
By plugging the company’s ‘Plug n go’ DIY programming handset into the car’s onboard diagnostic port, the remap can be installed in an easy manner. Playing it safe, the company has created a system where during the installation, the original engine map will stored on the Blufin handset and can be restored by the user later. The engine map is currently available in the UK for 455 Pounds and comes with a twelve year warranty.
The Ecoboost engine will be used in India to power Ford’s new crossover SUV the Ecosport. If superchips were to introduce the ECU remap to the Indian car market, it would be well received.
