When you have set the global standard for road systems over the last fifty years, it seems that the next step is to create ridiculously powerful cars that can take advantage of these roads and in a more casual tone ‘blow your brains out’. Yes, we are talking about the Autobahn and none other than Brabus who have decided to show us what magic can be done on the 2014 S-Class and why they are recognised for their scarily powerful custom cars derived from the Three Pointed Star’s line up.
Continuing the shock and awe, we will begin with the engines being offered with the Brabus spec 2014 S-Class. The tuning firm offers something called the PowerXtra CGI performance kit for the 4.7-litre V8 engined S500 variant which up the power from the standard 455SP to 525PS and the torque from 700Nm to 820Nm. 0-100kmph gets done in 4.2 seconds (which is very impressive considering the size of the car) and then you can hit a top speed of 300kmph.
If you plan to buy the recently unveiled S63 AMG, which in itself is quite powerful, and want Brabus to redefine what its upper -limit of its performance is, then opt for the 650PowerXtra CGI package. This will make the 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 produce an astounding 655PS which up the performance by 62PS from the ‘standard’ engine’s 593PS. Torque stands at 1000Nm which is an increase of 100Nm from the company spec mill.
Still hungry for even more power, the get ready to shell out for the B63S which features new turbochargers, revised air intake, revised ECU and a free-flowing exhaust (a.k.a loud and thunderous). These add ons push the 5.5-litre V8’s output to 735PS and a mind numbing electronically limited 1035Nm of torque. There is no 0-100kmph time but the top speed is believed to be 325kmph. While Brabus has not specified, it is likely that all the cars will be RWD.
Now, on to the more visual bits, the Brabus spec S-Class can be had with an aerodynamic body kit that includes revised bumpers, side skirts and a mechanism to lower the car by up to 15mm. It sits on Brabus spec wheels in sizes between 19 and 21 inches. Tyre options include Pirellis, Yokahamas or Continentals. There are no details of the interiors as yet but we believe that it will include revisions to the upholstery, carbon fibre options for the dash and doors, Brabus badges and a special steering wheel.
While there is no price mentioned, we believe that each of the packs, the body kits and the interior upgrades will cost at least 50, 000 Euros (Rs 39.12 lakh) and that’s excluding the cost of the standard S500 or the S63 AMG.
Now we ask a required but quite irrelevant question-will we get to see it in India? realistically speaking, not in the foreseeable future as we have no roads to unleash such mind numbing performance. There is also the fact that it will cost an obscene amount of money which seems unjustified due to the former. The closest we will get to this will be the standard S63 AMG which should reach our shore by the middle of next year.
