Bosch Electrical Drives India Private Ltd. (A joint Venture with Igarashi Motors India Pvt. Ltd) has announced that it shall be setting up a plant in the Chennai region during the recently conducted ground breaking ceremony of the facility. The plant that is expected to be functional by end of 2012 will produce Wiper systems, Engine cooling fan modules, HVAC blowers and Window lift drives products.
To be built on a total area of 9000 Sq. m with an investment of Rs 370 million and equipped with state of the art technology the plant will aim at increased localization of production. This facility will cater to the growing needs of the domestic market.
Setting up of the plant is slated to be a significant milestone for Bosch Electrical Drives India that initiated its operations in Chennai from a leased location in 2008.
Bosch Electrical Drives India at present employs 200 persons. With opening of the new plant, it is expected that nearly 350 more people will be recruited over a period of 3 years.

The ground breaking ceremony was also attended by representatives of the Tamil Nadu Government, Mr. V.K. Viswanathan, Managing Director Bosch Limited, Mr. Subramanya Ullal, Vice President, Bosch Electric Drives India Pvt. Ltd, Mr. Igarashi and Mr. Mukund from Igarashi Motors India Pvt. Ltd and Bosch Electrical Drives India Board members and employees.
