Edit: Check Live updates from the Honda City launch event.
The wait for January 7, the launch of the much-awaited all-new Honda City, is getting all the more interesting. While the public is waiting for the official price, bookings for the car have already begun. Dealers are calling it a priority booking of Rs 51,000 which will be refunded in case the customers change their minds after the 2014 Honda City is launched.
Another tidbit of information doing the rounds is that the current Honda City has been doing well and is, in fact, out of stock at most dealerships. Honda is making some profits while the sun is shining. Dealers are confident that they will not be refunding money to many as they feel that Honda’s reputation is enough to tide them over.
Recently we reported that the Honda City will be getting five variants – E, S, SV, V and VX. It was globally unveiled on November 25 at a function in Delhi and is the second oil burner from the Japanese automaker after the Amaze sedan.
Dealers say there is equal buyer interest in both petrol and diesel models, and they are expecting Honda’s latest mid-size sedan to command a waiting period, which can go up to two months, depending on the variant. They say entry-level variants in general are in higher demand and this should be the case with the new City as well.
