Looking to cash in on the hype created around the redi-GO, Datsun dealers in Mumbai and Delhi have begun taking bookings for the car ahead of the official booking date, May 1. Sources reveal that booking amount is in the range of Rs 11,000 to Rs 50,000 (depending on the dealer) and that the first lot of cars would arrive in June. Currently, even the display vehicles have not reached the showrooms.
The Datsun redi-GO was first showcased as a concept car at the 2014 Auto Expo and then unveiled in production form on April 14. It is the third car from Nissan’s budget offerings and will slot in below the GO hatchback. It is based on the same CMF-A platform as the Renault Kwid and will share its 800cc engine as well as underpinnings.
The car will be manufactured at the Renault-Nissan plant in Chennai and is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh.
