In the past year, development of new electric vehicles has progressed at electric speed, accelerating the evolution of automobiles. While you got hatchbacks, sportscars, sedans or even SUVs, we have been missing out on the classic off-roaders like the Jeep Wrangler or the Land Rover Defender. Well, Bollinger is here with the B1, the first real electric slush-slaying, mud-slinging, boulder-crawling SUV.
We like the way the Bollinger B1 looks. It is simple and square with straight cut lines and absolutely no drama. The Defender-ish lines with almost no overhangs both fore and aft, and the Humvee-like wheel arches make it look macho. While this is the two-door version, Bollinger is planning to build a four-door long-wheelbase truck with a pick-up cab as well.
The B1 will be offered with two battery pack options – 60kWh and 100kWh. Driven by two electric motors, one for each axle, the Bollinger B1 packs a punch with an equivalent of 360bhp of power and almost 600Nm of torque right from the word go. With the 60kWh battery pack, the Bollinger claims a range of more than 180kms while the 100kWh pack will allow it to run over 300kms.
There is still a fair amount of work to be done on it, but the Bollinger B1 is expected to begin customer deliveries in 2019.
