The BMW X7 SUV has been spotted on test in Europe. It will be their new full-size premium SUV with three rows of seating. The announcement for the vehicle was made earlier this year and now here are spy pictures of the latest test mules that reveal the new BMW X7 that is expected to rival the Mercedes-Benz GLS and the Audi Q7.
The BMW X7 is massive in size and gets the typical BMW signature design elements which are visible in spite of the camouflage. The kidney grille up front is probably the largest yet on a BMW in terms of size and is decked up high on a sculpted bumper hidden under the camouflage. It has got butch square lines and a three-cab profile accentuated by the long wheelbase. The tailgate cuts and creases are similar to the X5 and follow the BMW signature look for the SUVs.
We still haven’t got a peek inside this new BMW. Yet, given that it will be their flagship SUV we can expect that it will get things like a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable seats, motorised ORVMs, separate zone climate control, leather seats et al.
Under the hood, the X7 is expected to get the German automaker’s bread and butter turbocharged 3.0-litre diesel V6 generating more than 250bhp of power and more than 500Nm of torque. We can also expect an M spec model, petrol range as well as at least one hybrid or pure electric model. It will get X-Drive all-wheel drive standard across the range mated to an eight-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
The new BMW X7 is expected to arrive in the global markets by early 2018 and we hope it comes to India right after its global launch, somewhere around mid-2018.
