BMW will launch the X6M and X5M for the Indian market tomorrow at an event in Chennai. Both the cars will be brought via the CBU route and are expected to cost more than Rs 1.5 crore.
The X5M and X6M are based on BMW’s largest SUVs the X5 and X6 and are high-performance beefed-up versions of the siblings. These new cars feature signature M division design upgrades including M spec body kits, badging and 20-inch light alloy wheels. The large front air intakes, redesigned, but traditional kidney-shaped grille, side skirts, sporty rear spoiler and quad tailpipes exhibit the sporty character of the vehicles. The M-spec badging continues in the cabin of the car with the M-spec instrument cluster, steering wheel and special sports seats.
Both the cars are powered by a 4.4-litre V8 bi-turbo petrol engine that churns out 567bhp of power and a torque of 750Nm. This unit is mated to an eight-speed M Steptronic gearbox and an M-specific all-wheel-drive system. This set-up enables the cars to do the 0-100kmph acceleration in 4.2 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph.
The new TwinPower turbo V8 engine powering these cars is the most powerful engine ever developed by BMW for its all-wheel-drive range. Packed with high performance and practicality, the much-awaited cars will go on sale right after their launch tomorrow. Official prices will be announced tomorrow, so stay tuned.
