BMW launched the X6 M in India as a part of the Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) range. We put it to the test on the Madras Motor Race track. Here are the pictures of the experience.
-Inspired by motorsport, M is one of the most coveted badges of all, raising the bar for high-performance sports cars all over. The new X6 M is a part of this segment.
-The big burly performance SUV looks sportier than the standard X6. The larger air dam on the sporty bumpers up front, looks good and also makes way for a better air flow.
-The coupe-like roof line is the most appealing feature of the X6 M, which sets it apart from the standard SUVs from BMW.
-The cabin boasts of the M leather steering wheel with gearshift paddles, Head-Up display, door sill plates with M logo, an M gearshift lever and aluminium interior strips.
- The interior boasts of sporty adjustable seats that are adorned in fine-grain Merino leather, come with contrast stitching and sport an M badge embossed in the back rests.
-The 4.4-litre twin turbo V8 petrol engine is the most powerful engine ever developed by BMW for its all-wheel-drive range. It is the same mill that powers the M5 sedan and M6 Gran Coupe.
-This powerplant in the X6M belts out 567bhp of power at 6,000-6,500rpm and 750Nm of torque from 2,200-5000rpm. This humongous amount of power is sent to all four wheels lunging the car forward.
-The zero to 100kmph sprint is completed in a startling 4.2 seconds, despite the fact that the car weighs more than two tonnes. Though doing donuts was a bit of a task, the car can be drifted sideways.
-The engine comes mated to an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission that works in coordination with an M-specific version of BMW's xDrive all-wheel drive system.
- The X6 M can manage high cornering speeds as the car rides much lower than the regular X6, gets an independent rear suspension and features stiffened and lowered front control arm.
-The braking power comes from the huge M-spec brakes and this high-performance braking system puts the two tonne vehicle to a stop quickly.
-BMW's Active Roll Stabilization system apart from front, side and head airbags will vouch for your safety. So you can push the vehicle to do all the driving antics and yet keep you safe.
