> The necessary thermal stability of the engine is now ensured by a redesigned cooling system
> A particularly special technical highlight is that the M Sport Differential is installed on the front axle
Not only is the 2-litre TwinPower Turbo engine nestling under BMW’s X2 M35i - their very first M Performance four-cylinder engine, it also happens to be BMW’s most powerful version!
That’s not one, but two firsts for this model. This 310bhp four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine combined with a maximum torque of 450Nm definitely sets new benchmarks over the previous versions. And, to make sure that all that grunt gets to the wheels, its eight-speed Steptronic transmission transfers the power through an intelligent four-wheel drive technology (xDrive).
BMW mentioned that while the X2 M35i performs highly dynamic manoeuvres, the locking differential effectively reduces possible traction losses on the front wheels. This is mainly because the M Sport differential is installed in the front axle. All-in all, thanks to all the hardware included, BMW claims the X2 M35i can leap from 0-100kmph in 4.9 seconds.
