The BMW X1 sDrive20i has been launched in India at Rs 35.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This is the only petrol-powered variant available for the crossover.
The X1 sDrive20i is being offered in India in an xLine trim. Under the hood is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder which was so far used in the 3 Series, 320i Luxury Line variant. However this variant has now been dropped from BMW’s Indian portfolio. This turbocharged engine delivers 188bhp and 270Nm of torque, through a ZF eight-speed gearbox with paddle shifters.
There aren’t any visual changes to the BMW X1 sDrive20i. Like the rest of the BMW range, the xLine trim entitles the X1 sDrive20i to LED headlamps, daytime running lamps and tail lamps. The tail pipe gets chrome finish, while the kidney grille, roof rails and the bumper lip get an aluminium finish. It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels with run flat tyres. Inside, the X1 sDrive20i is equipped with and iDrive system with a 6.5-inch screen. Driver aids include ABS with brake assist, cornering brake control, dynamic stability control and traction control. It even gets a launch control.
The BMW X1 sDrive20i competes with the Mercedes-Benz GLA and the Audi Q3. However, those willing to go for a diesel engine also have the option of the Volvo V40 Cross Country and the Mini Countryman.
