A long wheelbase version of the latest generation BMW X1 has been leaked via Chinese patent images ahead of its expected 2016 global launch. We have seen the car testing on multiple occasions and this leak only confirms the direction in which BMW plans to take the X1.
The images show that the wheelbase has been stretched significantly to accommodate a third row. This is likely to be a much smaller one suited to kids and will have an option to be folded away to increase boot space.
This new LWB X1 will have the same engine, underpinnings and features as the standard vehicle. It will be launched first in China before making its way to Europe and then other Asian countries (India included) before the end of next year.
