- The iNEXT will be part of BMW’s new electric division.
- The Vision iNEXT is expected to be revealed in a few weeks’ time.
- Will rival the Mercedes-Benz EQC and Audi E-Tron Quattro.
Mercedes-Benz and Audi are set to reveal their electric products this month. Both German carmakers will spearhead their respective electric portfolios with a crossover. Naturally, BMW doesn’t want to be left behind. So, with the official reveal of the EQC just around the corner, the Bavarian carmaker has dropped teasers of the Vision iNEXT.
Although the Vision iNEXT is a concept vehicle, it previews a crossover which will be positioned under BMW’s new electric division akin to Merc’s new EQ division. The iNEXT teaser showcases a futuristic iteration of BMW’s characteristic kidney grille. It is massive and has illumination in a blue hue colour. A similar new grille design was earlier seen on the X7 iPerformance Concept and i Vision Dynamics Concept from last year. Apart from that, the lights – both fore and aft – are similar to the i Vision Dynamics Concept as well.
No other details of the Vision iNEXT are available at the moment. This will be the second iNEXT Concept from BMW, so we expect the same i Vision Dynamics Concept detailing on this crossover concept. The production version of the iNEXT will arrive a year after the reveal of the concept car, which is expected to happen towards the end of 2019. When it arrives, the iNEXT will enter into the new niche electric crossover segment which will be populated by the likes of Tesla Model X, Jaguar I-Pace, Audi E-Tron Quattro, Mercedes-Benz EQC, Hyundai Nexo EV and future vehicles based on Skoda Vision E Concept and Mini Electric.
