The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China has announced that BMW’s China division will be recalling over 10,000 units of the brand’s flagship offering – the 7 Series.
According to the report, BMW will recall 8,676 units of the 7 Series built between March 1, 2004 and July 31, 2008 over a software glitch that could cause the affected cars to slip downhill when parked on an incline.
Additionally, the company will recall 1,558 units of the luxury sedan manufactured between March 1, 2004 and July 8, 2008. The agency cites that a software issue could allow the doors to open when on bumpy roads. As is expected in such a situation, BMW will update the software in the affected vehicles for free. The recall is currently limited to BMW's China division, which means there's very little to be worried about for the owners of the specific model sold elsewhere.
We hope BMW China sorts it out before March-end and begins its new financial year on a positive note.
