After its revealing at the Detroit Motor Show last year in January and its showcasing at this year's Auto Expo in India, BMW will finally launch the M6 Gran Coupe in our country on April 3.
The BMW M6 Gran Coupe is basically the performance version of the four-door, stretched coupe based on the standard 6 Series. The wheelbase is from the M5 sedan and the car gets 20-inch alloys. The vehicle boasts of an aggressive body kit with massive air intakes. The other features include a carbon fiber roof and painted brake calipers. The cabin gets luxurious Alcantara upholstery, leather seats and a restyled three-spoke steering wheel.
The M6 Gran Coupe is powered by the most powerful production-spec engine from the automaker ever - the 4.4-liter V8 mill from the M5 which churns out 552bhp of power and 680 Nm of torque. This motor boasts of BMW's Twin Scroll and Twin-Turbocharging technology and is mated to a seven-speed M double-clutch gearbox. The power is sent to the rear wheels. With the help of this mighty engine, the M6 Gran Coupe can do the 0-100 kmph sprint in just 4.2 seconds. Though the top-speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h, one can get it boosted to 305 kmph.
In the end of 2012, BMW fans in India saw the launch of the 6 Series Gran Coupe. Now the German carmaker is all set to bring the faster version of the car to India. The BMW M6 Gran Coupe will be launched at the start of the coming month. Competing against the Audi RS 7 in our country, the car is expected to be priced at Rs 1.28 crore and will come to India via the CBU (Completely Built-up Unit) route.
