BMW India will launch the M6 Gran Coupe for the Indian market, in Delhi, tomorrow. It is the sporty version of the standard 6 Series Gran Coupe that was launched for the Indian market last year but gets all the M division touches to give it the sporty credentials. It is expected to be available in a single variant and a one engine option.
The M6 Gran Coupe features the standard BMW facia (based on a design similar to that of the Z4 Coupe) which includes the kidney grille, swept back headlights, power hood and the mesh air intake that is complemented by a sporty bumper.
The sides are dominated by the 20-inch wheels and flared wheels arches. It gets a contrast coloured roof which flows into the C-pillar creating a low and sloping rear roofline. At the back, the M6 Gran Coupe gets Quad exhausts, wrap around tail lamps and a sporty bumper. The singular M badge signifies the pedigree of the car as the most expensive vehicle in the Bavarian automaker’s performance car range.
Inside, the M6 Gran Coupe gets all the features of the standard car with the addition of Alcantara upholstery, leather seats and a restyled three-spoke steering wheel. BMW’s idrive and seat memory function are part of the standard design. In terms of safety the M6 Gran Coupe gets eight airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control and obviously various driving modes.
The engine is a 4.4-litre twin-power turbocharged V8 mill that produces 560bhp and 677Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox. It does 0-100kmph in 4.1 seconds and will go on to hit an electronically limited top speed of 248kmph.
We expect that BMW will price the M6 Gran Coupe in the range of Rs 1.28 crore to Rs 1.50 crore. It competes with the Audi RS7 in the luxury sports sedan range.
