BMW will launch the 7 Series LCI (Life Cycle Impulse) facelift for the Indian market in Mumbai tomorrow. The German automaker’s flagship sedan was unveiled globally in May last year and was previewed during a function in Jodhpur last month. Inside, there are new leather seats in the front, a Bang & Olufsen audio system as well as an optional rear seat entertainment package. BMW has now also fitted a fully digital instrument cluster.
The engine line up and variants are all expected to remain the same as the current model. The engine line up will remain the same as the previous model; one 3.0-litre diesel mill producing 246PS+540Nm of torque and three sets of petrol mill that includes the range topping twin turbo V12 producing 545PS+750Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a new ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox. The German automaker has however, not revealed if the LCI variant will be launched for the Indian market.
The current 7 Series is brought to the Indian market as a CBU and it is believed that BMW will begin assembling the car at the Chennai plant from this year onwards. The 7 Series competes with the Audi A8 and the Mercedes-Benz S Class.
