Imagine cars that automatically make an appointment for service. BMW's authorised distributor, Performance Motors Ltd (PML) is offering the BMW TeleServices system, the world's first networking system between the vehicle and BMW Service Partner.
Over 70 control units in the new BMW 7 Series continuously monitor all elements that are crucial to the proper running and safety of the vehicle. In the event that a need for service or in rare cases a fault is detected, a toll-free call is initiated automatically without any driver intervention. This data call sends service relevant information to PML that will then analyse the data and call up the customer to schedule a service appointment.
The customer is also informed by PML in advance what type of service is required and how long it will take. This allows the customer to make appointments at exactly the right point in time, fitting perfectly into one's personal timetable.
