-Both vehicles will feature a newly developed inline-6 engine
-Might debut at the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show
India just got the latest-gen BMW X3 and the X4. Both come with 2-litre diesel and petrol engines with the X4 also getting a 3-litre diesel. Now these are pretty quick in standard trim with plenty of torque on offer, however if you are considering buying one of these just for pure performance, they would fall a little short. But not anymore. BMW has teased the M versions of both the SUVs.
BMW has teased a video which shows both the X3 M and the X4 M in camouflage. Both the cars will get a newly developed inline-6 engine which will be turbocharged and make around 450bhp. The new inline-6 engine will be married to an 8-speed automatic transmission and an M-specific version of the xDrive all-wheel-drive system. The system made its debut in the 2018 M5 sedan, which gives the car the ability to split torque not only between the front and rear axles, but also the rear wheels themselves.
As for styling, expect an M kit with bigger wheels and brakes along with quad exhausts and larger air intakes. Expect the cars to debut officially at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show next month. And yes we can expect both these speedy SUVs to come to India as well.
