BMW India plans to bring back ‘Joy’ for Indian consumers. The company is offering the X1, X3, X5 and X6 SUVs for the pre-budget prices. This offer is valid only till March 31 or till stock lasts.
During the last week budget announcements, the finance minister levied an additional 25 per cent custom duty on imported cars, and hiked the excise duty on all SUVs by 3 per cent. The X1 and the X3 are CKD models and will attract additional 3 per cent excise duty, while the the X5 and the X6 are CBUs and will see a very steep hike with additional customs.
SUV and luxury cars markers weren’t happy with the budget and shared the unhappiness with SIAM, who will be requesting the finance minister to roll-back the excise duty on SUVs. With the pre-budget price offer, BMW India might see some increase in sales and other manufactures might offer similar deals for the vehicles that were dispatched from the facilities before the budget announcement.
