BMW’s new 5 Series (codenamed the G30), was unveiled globally last month and it has taken the wraps off the M Performance accessories for the car. It will be available right after the car hits the roads in February 2017.
The M Performance accessories can be fitted on all variants of the 5 Series and covers the areas of drive, suspension, aerodynamics and interiors.
The M Performance and Sound Kit offered on both the petrol and diesel variant boosts the power and torque figures of the car. The additional 34bhp increases the power to 360bhp and torque by 50Nm to 500Nm on the petrol engine. Whereas with the diesel engine, there is a 27bhp hike in power while the torque is hiked by 30Nm to 650 Nm. BMW says this boost in performance will not affect the fuel consumption in any way.
The M accessories include chrome or carbon fibre finished exhaust tips, which can be had in either circular or trapezoidal shape, depending on the engine variant. The stainless steel sports silencer will also provide a sportier and striking sound to the car. The M sports brake system includes vented, lightweight four-piston aluminium brakes at front, and a single-piston floating calliper brakes at rear. Hinting the performance intention, both the brake callipers are done in red.
The M Performance kit also includes 20-inch alloy wheels in two-levels, double-spoke design, done either in orbit grey colour or bi-colour finish. Special machining process enhances the matte black with a visible aluminium surface for that unique appearance.
The aerodynamic kit includes attachments for the front bumper, rear diffuser and rear spoiler finished in carbon fibre along with black side sill attachments. There is also an alternative to carbon fibre – hand built components made of polyurethane (PUR). The exterior mirrors can be had in carbon fibre, with black radiator grille, side sill stickers with M Performance inscription and BMW M Performance accent strips
On the inside, there is a sports steering wheel covered in Alcantara, with red and silver-grey contrasting stitches. The paddle shifters are behind the sports steering shifting the 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission.
When launched in India, the M Performance kit is expected to be provided as soon as the new 5 Series makes its debut.
