BMW has unveiled the facelifted version of its 3 Series GT sedan. It comes almost a year after the standard car was showcased and subsequently launched. A larger version of the German automaker’s compact sedan, it gets the same tweaks as its standard sibling but retains the plus sized rear for the additional space.
Introduced with the current generation of the sedan, there is new chrome garnish all around, updated iDrive system and optional wood trim in the cabin. It will for the first time also be offered with an M Sport body package that includes skirts, modified bumpers and special badging.
On the engine front, the 3 Series GT like the standard car will be offered with three turbocharged petrol and three turbocharged diesel engines. All variants except for the top-of-the-line 335d are rear-wheel drive while it will be offered only in the xDrive format.
The 3 Series GT has a bigger boot of 520-litres which can be expanded to 1600-litres when the rear seats are folded down completely. Exterior changes includes full LED headlights and fog lamps. There are also some subtle modifications to the front and rear bumpers.
European deliveries will begin in August for the 3 Series GT. We can expect it in India by the end of the year and at competitive prices as we believe that BMW will assemble the car at its Chennai plant.
