BMW has revealed a new launch video for the facelift 5 Series which featured all three variants of the car available in the European market. The 2014 model has been altered sparingly from the current 5 series but is now Euro VI compliant.
Changes include a new front bumper with matte black and chrome ascent, a silver strip to the boot and new taillight graphics. The interiors have been left almost untouched, apart from the minor refinements to the control display of the iDrive system.
On the feature front, the car is now enabled with Driving and Traffic Jam Assistant system and Message Dictation, the later allowing the driver to dictate and send text messages on the fly. The Driving Experience Control system that allows the driver to switch between Comfort and Sport modes also come standard in the new 5 Series along with a contactless opening and closing tailgate feature.
The 5 series is available in Europe in three different body styles; Sedan, Touring, and the recently added Gran Turismo. BMW currently offers the 5 Series and the 5 Series GT in India, though the GT comes to India via the CBU route.
Facelifts generally take a while to find their way to the Indian market, but when introduced the model will be available as CKD units implying that the previous generation model will get hefty discounts. So, if you are on the lookout for a new BMW 5 Series, our advice will be to wait for the facelift and then get the current one, considering the minimalistic update, the difference will be hard to notice.
