BMW has discontinued the 30d M sport variant of the X3. The X3 is now only powered by a 2.0-litre petrol and a diesel engine.
The discontinued 3.0-litre in-line six cylinder diesel engine was offered in the top-spec trim as the 30d M Sport. The twin-turbo diesel engine was capable of producing 258bhp and 560Nm of torque mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The BMW’s all-wheel-drive drivetrain, the ‘xDrive’ was standard equipment on offer in the X3.
In the meantime, the BMW X3 20d and 28i are still on sale. The former is the diesel variant and the latter is the petrol variant. The 20d is the 2.0-litre in-line four diesel powered engine, producing 190bhp and 400Nm of torque. The latter 28i variant is the 2.0-litre petrol powered engine producing 244bhp and 350Nm of torque.
Recently BMW has begun overhauling their portfolio in India and majority of the models sold here are now getting an extra variant. On the flipside, the X3 now loses a variant, although the more popular 20d stays on offer.
BMW X3 rivals against the Mercedes GLC and the Audi Q5. With the BMW unplugging the more potent engine on offer here, the Audi Q5 is the only one in the segment with a larger 3.0-litre V6 engine on option.
