After an insignificant showcase in the early 90’s BMW re-launched their Motorrad (German for ‘motorcycle’) division in India to an insatiable luxury segment audience in December last year. Their array of bikes will be sold by Deutsche Motoren in Delhi and Navnit Motors in Mumbai and Bangalore.
We are the first to tell you that Navnit Motors have zeroed in on the location and begun work on their dedicated BMW Motorrad showroom. The first showroom is under construction in Malad, the western end of Mumbai and the second will tentatively come up in Breach Candy later this year. More than 20 bikes have been booked and more than 10 are already on road. The bikes reached India via the CBU route as the motorcycles are produced at the plant in Berlin. The bikes are tentatively priced around Rs.18 lakh to Rs.25 lakh.
Navnit currently offers six models which BMW deemed best for the enthusiast Indian riders. The R1200R and the R1200GS are regarded as the ultimate in enduro motorcycles with incredible power delivery and are most comfortable over long distances. The S1000RR is the world’s fastest production bike notwithstanding the controversial styling. The K1300 and the K1600GTL which high performance best in class sport-tourers and the HP2 which is a powerful performance street bike, known to be user friendly and easy to maneuver.
