BMW has put out a teaser image announcing the arrival of an all-new BMW at the Concours-de-Elegance, Pebble beach at the Monterey Car Week to be held in three weeks. BMW calls it ‘a mystery model’, something that will be an ‘emotional addition to the BMW range’.
While there are two contenders for the spot, the all-new Z4 and the M8 Gran Coupe concept, the chances of the Z4 debut are higher. One, because it hasn’t made a global debut yet and two, because the starry-kidney grille matches with a few spy-shots of the test mules.
Built together with what would be the all-new Supra, the BMW Z4 will be the petite front-engine rear-wheel-drive sports car that isn’t too fast nor too docile and certainly not very expensive. It will be the ideal rival to the Porsche 718 or the Mercedes SLC rival. With Jaguar coming in with the 2.0-litre F-Type in this space, the competition is certainly hot especially with the Supra lining up for its debut.
BMW had revealed the Z4 concept last year at the same venue and the reveal of the production car at the Pebble beach seems natural. It will be accompanied by the 8-Series cars, the badge that has been revived after decades of stoic silence.
