The all new BMW M-powered 6 series, the M6, has debuted at the New York motor show in its sleek and convertible avatar. The long bonnet houses the famed 4.4-litre V8 mated to a seven-speed automatic dual-clutch gearbox to transfer the 560 horses and 680Nm torque to the rear wheels . The new V8 is 30 per cent more torquey and green as compared to its V10 predecessor. The high-revving engine is limited to 7200 rpm.It takes a little over 4 seconds to blast to 100kph in this new M6.
The Bimmer will roll out on the company spec 19-inch alloys though the 20-inch option is available. BMW has claimed substantial weight savings for this new model. The BMW Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) programme has been taken to new heights with the ABS, EBD, DDC, CBC all acting in tandem to help the driver concentrate on the pleasure of taming the beast. The tuned M-chassis is ultra responsive which when coupled with the Servotronic Power steering makes the M6 a driver’s delight.
The car will go on sale by the middle of this year in the US market as a 2013 model. After the customary wait for Indian formalities, one can expect it to go on sale in the Indian market as well.
