After silently launching the M5 two days ago, BMW India has launched the M4 Coupe for the Indian market at Rs 1.21 crore (ex-showroom India). Based on the 3 Series sedan, the M4 will join the rest of the M Division performance cars M5, M6 and the M3, which was also launched today at Rs 1.19 crore (ex-showroom India).
The major highlight of the new M4 is its heart. It gets the new 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine that produces 431bhp between 5,500rpm and 7,300pm and maximum torque of 550Nm between 1,850rpm and 5,500rpm. The power is transferred to the rear wheels via a seven-speed DCT gearbox with paddle-shifters. The German manufacturer claims that the M4 will accelerate 0-100kmph in just 4.1 seconds and the top speed has been limited to 250kmph. The new M4 weighs less than 1,500kg, thanks to the usage of lightweight materials. This has not only affected the overall performance but also the fuel-efficiency parameter which is now up by 25 per cent.
The M4 Couple shares design elements with the 3 Series sedan but look more aggressive. The kidney bean-shaped front grille along with the sleek headlights gives it a distinguished character. The BMW M4 is equipped with safety features like the ABS with brake assist, Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including M Dynamic mode and launch control. The M4 Couple will be available in eight colours - alpine white, black sapphire, silverstone, mineral white, mineral grey, austin yellow, yas marina blue and sakhir orange.
