BMW has announced a new version of the 2 Series, the M235i xDrive coupe. It is essentially an all-wheel-drive (AWD) version of the M235i. The new car is all set to go on sale in a few months time.
The new model will be powered by the same engine used in the car with similar power and torque outputs. The new car with AWD and an eight-speed automatic gearbox is quicker in the dash to 100kmph as compared to its two-wheel-drive sibling. The top-speed of both models are limited to 250kmph, whereas the 0-100 kmph times of the new model is 4.6 seconds in comparison to 4.8 of the rear-wheel drive model.
Where it does lose out though is in the fuel efficiency part. The additional weight of the AWD system has reduced the efficiency from 11.3 kmpl to 10.6 kmpl.
We have been reporting about the 2 Series more often than not and half the credit goes to BMW as it has been keeping the car in the news regularly. In India, we expect the regular variants of the car followed by the go faster variants if BMW decides to launches it here.
