As a confirmation to the last story we wrote about the speculated BMW M2 in the making, now a M2 test car has been spotted testing. This is the first spotting of the M2 and these are still early days with the launch date speculated as late 2015.
The noticeable changes in the M2 are the flared fenders borrowed from the M235i Racing, larger 19-inch wheels wider tyres and blue brake calipers. The test mule also had a wider track in comparison to the saner version of the car. The source mentions that it was an early test mule doing chassis testing and the bodywork was incomplete. Fresh rumours indicate that the turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six engine will get a big bump in power from the current 321bhp to 374bhp.
This is one exciting car BMW India should launch here. The 1 Series hasn’t done too well and replacing it with the 2 Series might do wonders. The versatile 2 Series range also has the Active Tourer, which competes with the Mercedes B-Class elsewhere. BMW can do away with the 1 Series completely and introduce the entire 2 Series line-up here. All in all we shall wait until BMW announces its official plans with the 2 Series range for India.
